When Good People Remain Quiet
A Message from our Political Leader, Patrick Rogers
It has been said that when good people remain quiet and un-involved, evil triumphs and it becomes easy for anger and fear to rule the day. By now I’m sure you have heard about the Guatemala forces and Guatemalan government’s gradual increased aggressive behavior near Belize’s southern border.
There’s been a lot of debate and chatter about how we got to this point and what we, as Belizeans, need to do to move beyond it. Some are saying that Belizeans today are just too divided, too confused, too ignorant, or too passive to stand up to the Guatemalan forces and their government, and that our government officials (PUDP) have let us down and led us down a wrong path. Some are saying that we need to just leave it up to the government officials and stay out of the way.
I admit that sometimes it all seems a bit overwhelming and it is tempting to just ignore what’s happening and tune it all out or simply observe from afar and hope for the best. But, I can’t do that and I hope that you won’t either. We Belizeans need to actively participate and join together in peaceful solidarity to send Guatemalan forces and their government a clear message that our kindness and our peaceful good nature should not be mistaken for weakness. Belizeans need to stand together this September to show the doubters that Belizeans are not confused, not ignorant, nor apathetic about what’s going on.
Belizeans need to stand together in peaceful solidarity to show our friends in the region and around the world that we are worth their continued support. We are worth standing up for and defending. Belizeans need to stand in peaceful solidarity to show our elected leaders and diplomat that united we can negotiate in confidence. Belizeans need to stand together in peaceful solidarity to send a message to our neighbor that all we want is to live in peace and tranquility and for our borders to be respected. This is who we are and what we strive to be… a peaceful haven of democracy.
I hope that you will join me in an effort to raise funds needed to plan, organize, and execute a massive show of peaceful solidarity this September. Please donate today.

We still have an outstanding dollar for dollar pledged match of $1,000; but we need to raise $1,000 first to get that match.
Help spread the word. Make this campaign your own. Don’t just share or like it. Copy and paste it on your timeline. Tag your friends, especially those who live in the United States. Remind your friends in the United States that this is tax season and many of them may be getting a refund. Ask them to set aside a little bit of that refund to support a worthy cause and help Belizeans to join together in peaceful solidarity this September to #standupforSarstoon.#standupforBelize.
