BPP Back To School Rally. Punta Gorda. A big Success.
On August 20, 2016 Wil Maheia, deputy political leader of the Belize Progressive Party - BPP, held its 10th annual Back To School Rally, and the first time under the BPP banner.
We are more than happy to say it was a 'pedagogical' success. Parents and their children came from all over the Toledo district to the Punta Gorda Central Park to receive books, pencils and even soccer balls for schools.
Wil Maheia noted that this rally is not motivated by politics, and pointed out the fact that it does not coincide with any elections in the country of Belize and has been established for 10 years.
Charles Leslie Jr. noted that the rally was bitter sweet. Bitter because Belizean parents and children should not have to worry about how they will pay to go to school, and that education is a human right that no one is talking about, however the BPP will continue to be the voice of the voiceless.
It is sweet because people like Wil Maheia continue to work for their community tirelessly and selflessly and this gives everyone hope for a better future and a better Belize for all.
We thank our generous sponsors and especially Bobby Lopez and Charles Leslie Jr. who coordinated to get the books from Belize City to Punta Gorda, in time for the rally. Charles Leslie Jr. is planning a Back To School drive in Belmopan, so please stay tuned to our website and Facebook page to keep updated and see how you may be able to assist.
